Five dead in Thailand hotel fire
Last Updated:
Five people have died and dozens injured in a fire at a hotel in southern Thailand.
The blaze broke out at the Lee Gardens Hotel in downtown Hat Yai, a popular destination with tourists from neighbouring Malaysia and Singapore.
Authorities say four men and a woman died in the fire.
336 people were injured, including 28 who are in hospital.
The cause of the fire is being investigated.
City mayor Prai Pattano earlier said it was apparently caused by a gas explosion in the basement of the building.
